Boat trips and snorkelling in Marsa Alam
This page lists our 7 sea trips from Marsa Alam: five full-day yacht trips, a beach day at Abu Dabab reached by bus and the Seascope semi-submarine. Prices start at $40 per person, pickup at your hotel gate is included, and you can book online and pay nothing today.
Almost every boat trip here is a snorkelling day, and the main difference is the port. The Sataya and Hamata trips sail from Hamata port, about 140 km from the airport, so pickup is between 6:00 and 7:00 and the day lasts about ten hours. Marsa Mubarak, Dolphin House and Coral Garden pick you up at about 8:00. After that it depends on what you want to see: dolphins at Sataya and Samadai, turtles and dugongs at Marsa Mubarak and Abu Dabab.

Which Marsa Alam boat trip to choose
For dolphins, choose between Sataya dolphin reef and Dolphin House. Sataya is a large horseshoe-shaped reef with caves and tunnels where moray eels, turtles and groupers live, and costs $70. Dolphin House, on Samadai reef, has a later pickup at 8:00 and costs $50. Both make two swim stops of about an hour, with lunch and soft drinks on board.
Hamata Island has the most variety: open-sea snorkelling off Sile Island, a half-hour beach break among mangroves and birds, an hour on the reef at Hamata, then lunch on the way to the small island of Om El Sheikh. Marsa Mubarak is a shorter day with two bays, turtles in the first and dugongs at Shoni Bay. Coral Garden, from $40, stops at Mekkey's Room, at Alam Reefs, where dolphins are often seen, and at Coral Garden, with corals and wrecks.
Sataya dolphin reef: what the day looks like
Pickup is around 6:00 for the drive to Hamata port. The yacht then makes two stops of about an hour, one of them at Sataya, where you can snorkel with dolphins around you, look at the coral or just swim. Qualified instructors in the water look after safety and lead you to the best parts of the reef.
Lunch is served on board with soft drinks included, and the whole trip takes about ten hours. Sataya is known for its many dolphins, but they are wild and no trip can promise them.
Snorkelling in Marsa Alam without a boat, or without swimming
Abu Dabab bay is reached by bus: pickup around 8:00, on the beach at about 10:00 and back at your hotel around 17:00. The private sandy beach has umbrellas and sun loungers, and the seagrass in the bay is home to turtles and dugongs, a rare and protected species. Snorkelling and diving cost extra and are booked on the beach. It is the easiest sea day with small children.
The Seascope semi-submarine is for anyone who would rather stay dry. You choose a pickup at 9:00, 11:00 or 12:00 and watch the reef through the large windows of the air-conditioned lower deck. The trip takes about three hours.
What to bring and what costs extra
Bring a towel, swimwear, sunscreen, sunglasses, a hat and drinks, and keep a photo of your passport's first page on your phone. Take your own mask, snorkel and fins if you have them, or rent gear; at Abu Dabab the set also includes a vest and a wetsuit.
Lunch and soft drinks are included on the Sataya, Dolphin House and Marsa Mubarak yachts, and lunch is also served on board on the Hamata and Coral Garden trips.

We might ask you to send a photo of your passport. This reduces the waiting time in the port or when leaving the reserved areas of Sharm el-Sheikh by booking everything in advance. In response to your request, we will send the bus arrival time for you. An important clarification: the bus is waiting at the gate, outside the hotel. This significantly shortens the transfer time. All excursions can be booked just one day before the desired date of visit, except for tours by plane. Also remember that: we do not take prepayment (except for excursions by plane or on an individual yacht). Payment with the guide, day to day.
