Super safari or a single activity: which to choose
The super safari 5 in 1 is the one to book if you only go into the desert once. After a safety briefing you ride a quad for about 45 minutes and a buggy for about 20, cross the dunes by jeep, visit a Bedouin village, join in Bedouin bread making, take a short camel ride and finish with dinner, soft drinks and a show in the desert. Pickup is around 13:00 and the trip takes about six hours, from $22.
The quad safari gives you about 45 minutes on a quad after a briefing in English, then tea with Bedouins and a camel ride. Pickup is around 12:00, from $20. The quad has only two controls, throttle and brake, so you need no training or licence, and riders from 16 can drive on their own.
The buggy safari for two has the longest buggy ride, 60 minutes after a briefing on the controls, followed by Bedouin tea and a camel ride. Pickup is around 13:00 and you are back around 16:00, from $90. The jeep safari crosses rough ground and narrow mountain roads in 4x4 jeeps, then tours a Bedouin village with bread baking, a camel ride and a traditional lunch, from $20.
Camel ride and horse riding in Hurghada
For the desert without engines, the camel ride is 45 minutes through the quiet desert, with pickup at a time agreed with you, from $35. Horse riding on the beach is also 45 minutes, along the shore on a beach set aside for riding, from $35. Both take about three hours including the transfer.
A short camel ride is already part of the super safari and the quad, buggy and jeep trips, so you do not need to book it separately if you take one of those.
What to wear and bring on a desert safari
Wear comfortable clothes and shoes, and bring sunglasses and a head scarf (an arafat); both are sold at the ATV centre if you forget them. Take your passport, something to drink and cash for personal expenses. Photos and videos by the photographer cost extra.
Transfers from El Gouna, Safaga, Sahl Hasheesh, Makadi and Soma Bay cost extra. Riders usually need to be 16 to drive a quad alone, and there are weight limits too, so ask us when you book if this affects anyone in your group.

We might ask you to send a photo of your passport. This reduces the waiting time in the port or when leaving the reserved areas of Sharm el-Sheikh by booking everything in advance. In response to your request, we will send the bus arrival time for you. An important clarification: the bus is waiting at the gate, outside the hotel. This significantly shortens the transfer time. All excursions can be booked just one day before the desired date of visit, except for tours by plane.
