Every version has the same core: Karnak Temple first, lunch at a restaurant and a short stop at the Colossi of Memnon. What changes is the extra visit. The basic tour adds the Temple of Hatshepsut, and the others add the Valley of the Kings, the Valley of the Queens or the Temple of Hathor at Dendera. Luxor stands on the site of ancient Thebes and holds about a third of the world's ancient monuments, so one day covers only the main sights.

Which Luxor tour to choose
Luxor 1 day by bus, from $50, covers Karnak Temple, the Colossi of Memnon and the Temple of Queen Hatshepsut. It is a good first visit if you want the big temples at the lowest price.
Luxor and the Valley of the Kings, from $68, takes you to the valley of royal tombs, where Tutankhamun's tomb is. Luxor and the Valley of the Queens, from $57, visits the valley where the queens were buried instead.
Luxor and Dendera, from $80, has the fullest programme: Karnak, the avenue of sphinxes, the Colossi of Memnon and the Temple of Hatshepsut in Luxor, plus the Temple of Hathor at Dendera, a place of pilgrimage for blessings of fertility and happiness.
What a Hurghada to Luxor day looks like
Pickup is around 4:00, so it is a short night. The first stop is Karnak Temple, the largest ancient religious complex in the world, built by many pharaohs over several dynasties. It covers about 1.5 km by 700 m and includes three main buildings, smaller temples and a sacred lake with a scarab statue that is said to grant wishes.
Lunch is at a restaurant, and drinks are not included. After lunch you can take an optional Nile cruise to Banana Island for an extra fee. The stop at the Colossi of Memnon, two huge stone statues of Pharaoh Amenhotep III, lasts about 15 minutes. You are back in Hurghada late in the evening.
What costs extra and what to bring
The extras are the Nile cruise to Banana Island, drinks at lunch and, if you want one, a private car with a guide in your chosen language. Keep a photo of the first page of your passport on your phone. Comfortable shoes and a hat are useful, as most of the day is spent walking around open-air sites.

We might ask you to send a photo of your passport. This reduces the waiting time in the port or when leaving the reserved areas of Sharm el-Sheikh by booking everything in advance. In response to your request, we will send the bus arrival time for you. An important clarification: the bus is waiting at the gate, outside the hotel. This significantly shortens the transfer time. All excursions can be booked just one day before the desired date of visit, except for tours by plane.
