How do you pay?

Ticket offices at Egyptian monuments are cashless. You pay by Visa or Mastercard at the window or at the ticket machines, or buy an e-ticket in advance on the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities’ booking site. Bring a bank card even if your tour includes the plateau ticket, because tickets to go inside a pyramid are bought on the spot.

Is it worth going inside the Great Pyramid?

For most visitors, no. Inside you climb a narrow, steep passage, bent over for part of the way, to an empty granite chamber. It is hot and humid inside; allow about half an hour. It is worth it if being inside the last standing Wonder of the Ancient World matters to you. It is not a good idea if you dislike tight spaces, have knee or back problems, or are short of time. Khafre’s pyramid costs much less and gives a similar experience.

What time does the Giza plateau open?

The plateau opens at 7:00 in summer and 8:00 in winter, and the last ticket is sold at about 16:00. Hours change during Ramadan, so check before you go. Tour buses from the Red Sea usually reach Giza around midday, after the museum stop.

What about the Grand Egyptian Museum?

The Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM) next to the plateau has its own ticket. From 1 November 2026 the foreign adult ticket rose by $5 to $35, according to Egypt Today and Ahram Online. Entry is booked for a set time slot, so book ahead or let your tour arrange it.

Which tickets are included on SinbadTour Cairo trips?

All our Cairo trips include the Giza plateau ticket and the Sphinx, so you do not pay the 700 EGP yourself. Tickets to go inside a pyramid are not included. Tell the guide in the morning if you want to go in, so that time is planned for it.

Tips for the pyramids

  • Carry a bank card for extra tickets and your passport for checkpoints on the road.
  • Wear closed shoes: the plateau is sand and loose stone.
  • Camel and horse handlers on the plateau will offer rides. Agree the price and the length of the ride before you get on.
  • Bring water and a hat. There is little shade.
