Is the Grand Egyptian Museum open in 2026?

Yes. The Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM) near the Giza pyramids had its official opening in November 2025 and is open daily. The galleries open from 9:00 to 18:00, and until 21:00 on Wednesdays and Saturdays, with last entry one hour before closing. Tickets are sold for a set entry time, and popular slots can sell out.

From 1 November 2026 the ticket for foreign adults rose from $30 to $35, according to Egypt Today. The museum ticket is part of the entrance fees on both 1-day trips, so you do not buy it yourself.

We also need a copy of your passport to arrange the travel permit for the trip.

Which option suits you?

  • Cairo 1 day by bus (from $85): suits travellers on a budget who can sleep on a bus and do not mind a 26-hour day.
  • Cairo 1 day by plane (from $255): suits families with children, older travellers and anyone with only one free day. It costs more but replaces about 15 hours on the road with two flights of about an hour.
  • Cairo 2 days by bus (from $160): suits people who want to see more than Giza, such as Old Cairo and the Citadel, at a lower price than the plane trip.
  • Cairo and Alexandria 2 days by bus (from $160): suits travellers who want to add Alexandria and Fort Qaitbay to the pyramids and the museum.
